Introducing Dogs & Cats

  Watch pets for body language:

• Cat stress signs: Hissing, pinned ears, puffed tail, or swiping.
• Dog stress/prey signs: Rigid posture, intense staring, barking, or lunging.

 Animals with good past experiences often adjust well and quickly to a new pet in the house, but a negative interaction could ruin the relationship, and you’ll need to start over.   

 Be Patient and Flexible: Introductions may take several weeks. If either pet feels unsafe or stressed, slow down and return to an earlier phase.
